Supervisory Ship Progressman (General)

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SHIP PROGRESSMAN (GENERAL) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NAVAL SHIPYARD & IMF within the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.

Duties
  • You will plan the use of subordinate worker's equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month- to month basis.
  • You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors.
  • You will coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • You will determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • You will determine how many assignments can be accomplished concurrently, which ones may be delayed; consider skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required to complete projects.
  • You will participate with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • You will assign work to subordinate employees, provide indirect oversight of trade workers (military and/or civilian personnel).
  • You will plan and establish leave schedules and determine training needs/provisions for the accomplishment of training of employees.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to work onboard ships.
Qualifications

Salary is based on geographical location and is subject to change with the annual local wage surveys in accordance with the provisions of 5 CFR Part 532 for all employees whose official duty station is located within the geographic boundary of the wage area definition.
