Salary: $65,000-$70,000 per year

Position Summary

Residents Medical is seeking a Medical Residency and Fellowship Specialist to guide and support medical graduates through the U.S. residency application and placement process. This is a full-time, on-site position.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are strongly encouraged to apply and are the ideal candidates for this role, as firsthand experience navigating this pathway is highly valuable to our candidate population. Applicants must be a Medical Doctor (MD, MBBS or equivalent) who understands the complexities of the U.S. Match process and is passionate about mentoring fellow physicians.

In addition to advising and mentorship, this role also involves consultative sales responsibilities, as our mentorship and residency placement services are paid engagements. The ideal candidate is comfortable discussing program value, building trust with candidates, and guiding them through enrollment decisions.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain deep, practical exposure to residency strategy, physician advising, and the operational side of the Match ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel and guide IMG/FMG candidates through residency preparation and placement strategy
  • Conduct detailed candidacy assessments and develop individualized action plans
  • Review and strengthen CVs, personal statements, ERAS applications, and supporting materials
  • Educate candidates on residency pathways, timelines, interview preparation, and Match expectations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact, providing consistent mentorship and follow-up
  • Track candidate progress, documentation, milestones, and outcomes in internal systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams on candidate readiness, program alignment, and placement strategy
  • Engage in consultative sales conversations, clearly communicating service offerings and helping candidates make informed enrollment decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with candidates throughout the advisory and enrollment process

Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (MD, MBBS or equivalent) required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Comfort with or experience in sales, consultative advising, or client conversion strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. residency application process and physician career pathways
  • Excellent communication, counseling, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple candidates simultaneously
  • Professional, empathetic, and results-driven approach

Preferred Background

  • IMG/FMG background strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in residency counseling, medical education, physician advising, or healthcare admissions
  • Personal familiarity with the U.S. Match process
  • Experience working with physicians, medical graduates, or academic healthcare programs
