About this position Heavy Equipment Operator – Anchorage, AK Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operation of equipment Experience with demolition tools such as steel shear, processors, and breakers Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles Ability to drive and operate heavy equipment under varying working conditions Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications Education: High School diploma or GED Five or more years of experience operating specialty demolition excavators Ability to operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, etc. Must pass a pre‑employment drug test Must be able to work 8‑12 hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends Minimum age 18 Union affiliation required U.S. citizenship Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics Good interpersonal skills Ability to be punctual and dependable Strong commitment to safety and quality work Effective communication with all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions Preferred N/A Supervisory Responsibilities This position will not have supervisory responsibilities. DOT Covered/Safety‑Sensitive Role Requirements This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety‑sensitive” functions. Necessary Physical Requirements Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. Work Environment The work environment includes exposure to equipment and machinery, computers, and maintenance equipment. Occasional travel is required. Physical setting: onsite. No telework. Schedule and flexibility: 40+ hours per week. Other Pertinent Work Details: Must be a member of Operating Engineers Local 302. Additional Qualifying Factors Pre‑employment drug screening required and acceptable background check results required. Must obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required for the contract and be able to obtain access to military installations if applicable.
