Job Summary Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control. Position Highlights May include operations‑based responsibilities or data/support which includes verifying patient charts for accuracy, sending out orders, contacting patients for refills, processing prescriptions, handling all adjudication issues, prior authorizations, answering calls, and typing prescriptions. Operations focused position can be work from home. Data/support position shift options: Monday‑Friday 9:00 am‑5:30 pm with 2 days a week in office, or four 10‑hour shifts 7:00 am‑5:30 pm with either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday off, with 2 days a week in office. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered. Retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control. Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists & Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies. Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers. Operates computer systems and utilizes technology. Technical Capabilities Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): basic understanding of computers or successfully completed training for applications that support medication use processes. Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): fundamental proficiency to review, prepare, dispense and distribute prescribed medications, including proficiency in aseptic techniques for sterile preparations. Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): working knowledge of rules and regulations, continuous quality improvement, and compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): fundamental proficiency working with drug inventory and records management; maintain appropriate inventory levels and organize pharmacy-related information. Position Qualifications Certified Pharmacy Technician – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); LIC-Pharmacy Technician – Tennessee. Relevant Work Experience: less than 1 year. Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
